The opening of a new production at Warsaw’s Kamienica Theater will mark the theater’s fifth anniversary March 22.

The new play is a Polish version of Cash on Delivery (Polish title: ZUS czyli Zalotny U¶miech Słonia), a comedy with a romantic sub-plot written by Michael Cooney. The protagonist, who has just lost his job, is desperate to make ends meet. He comes up with an idea for generating extra income by inventing several imaginary people so he can collect a range of social benefits. With the help of trusted friends, the plan surprisingly works and the main character starts receiving payments for single mothers, pensions for widows, disability pay-outs and maternity benefits.

As he tries to extricate himself from the increasingly complicated situation, he sets into motion a chain of amusing events.

The play stars Emilian Kamiński, who also directs the piece, along with Katarzyna Pakosińska, Krystyna Tkacz, Dorota Kamińska and Sambor Czarnota.
