WSE operator GPW will launch new indices, mid-cap WIG50 and small-cap WIG250, on March 24, while ceasing publication of the small-cap index sWIG80 and WIG-Plus index after the March 21 session, GPW said in a press statement.

The mid-cap WIG50 index will eventually replace the current mWIG40 index, which will be maintained until end-2015, GPW said.

Futures for the WIG50 index will be introduced on December 22, 2014.

The small-cap index WIG250 will encompass companies from the sWIG80 and WIG-Plus indices, GPW said. Its broader base will allow a better reflection of sentiment among small-caps, GWP said.

Both the WIG50 and WIG250 will be price-based indices and will not include dividend earnings, GPW said.

The list of stocks making up both indices will be published in the first half of February, GPW also said.
