TR Warszawa, an innovative, award-winning theater based in Warsaw, will show, Feb.27, a play called T.E.O.R.E.M.A.T. with English subtitles. The play is based on a cult movie “Teorema” by Pier Paolo Pasolini.

40 years have passed since the film by Pier Paolo Pasolini Teorema was made. It was a cult movie although known only to a narrow group of connoisseurs. Back then, in 1968, the world was heading for a great solstice. Social tensions resulted both from frustrating shortage and surplus which in the effect turned to be shortage, too.

Grzegorz Jarzyna - an internationally recognized Polish theater director - uses the structure of Pasolini’s work to conduct a study of borderline experience within the framework of laboratory work with actors. In the life of the characters of the performance, like in any man's life, there is a critical point when he hits a wall. Then, he must take a decision; either he shuts off from life or he develops a higher awareness and transgresses previous limitations.

"T.E.O.R.E.M.A.T. is a sequence of cinematic images (with terse dialogue interspersed) aimed at demonstrating how the pressures of our contemporary global economy on domestic relations have segregated us from faith, tradition and the capacity to love. It’s the story of a wealthy manufacturer whose family is destroyed by carnal attractions to an enigmatic visitor. The family members’ primal attraction to the stranger is compensation for the hollowness of their own existence", LA Weekly writes.

Cast includes outstanding Polish actors: Aleksandra Konieczna, Danuta Stenka, Katarzyna Warnke, Jan Dravnel, Jan Englert, Rafał Maćkowiak, Sebastian Pawlak.
