Stoch wins first Olympic gold medal for Poland at Sochi

Kamil Stoch
Kamil Stoch of Poland won the men's normal hill individual ski jump at the Sochi Games on Sunday after putting in the longest leap in both rounds to win the country's first individual title since 1972.

The 26-year-old Stoch finished with a final round of 136.0 points, traveling a distance of 103.5 meters. His total was 278.0 points, and he won over Slovenia's Peter Prevc by 12.7 points.

It is first Olympic gold medal for Stoch.

It is Poland's first Olympic ski jumping gold medal since Wojciech Fortuna won the large hill at the 1972 Olympics.
