Building Cities: Child’s Play?
June 3, 2014
A new project at the Wola District Museum encourages children to play at building cities.
The museum has equipped a special room with blocks and mats depicting parts of the urban landscape. Made of simple, environmentally friendly materials, the blocks allow children to reconstruct buildings from before the war and exercise their imagination by designing streets, avenues, squares and residential estates, so creating their own cities.
The project includes weekend workshops during which instructors teach children the secrets of urban planning, architectural design and construction. Kids also learn facts and trivia about buildings in Warsaw.
The project has been organized jointly with the Leroy Merlin Polska chain of home improvement stores.
