Zbigniew Brodka
Zbigniew Brodka claimed the third gold medal for Poland at Sochi Games in Russia when he won the men's 1,500m speedskating event in the Adler Arena by mere thousandths of a second. Brodka’s time was 1 minute, 45.006 seconds while Koen Verweij of the Netherlands settled for silver in 1:45.009.

It's the first Olympic medal for Brodka, who was 27th in the 1,500 at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Also on Saturday, ski jumper Kamil Stoch took his second gold (and the fourth for Poland) of the Winter Olympics. Stoch jumped 139 meters and totaled 143.4 points to give him a three-point lead over 41-year-old Noriaki Kasai of Japan.

Stoch is the third man ever to win both individual events at the same Winter Games.
