February 20, 2014
Poland's industrial output increased by 4.1% year on year in January vs. 3.5% y/y growth expected in the PAP Polish news agency consensus survey, as output increased 2.9% from the prior month, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Wednesday.
Analysts surveyed by PAP had expected a monthly increase of 2.4%.
Polish seasonally adjusted industrial output in January was up by 6.3% y/y on a 2.3% monthly increase.
The Finance Ministry analysts expect Poland's industrial output growth to continue to rise in the coming months, supported by ongoing improvement of foreign and domestic demand,
"In the following months we expect industrial output to remain in the upward trend thanks to expected further improvement of the economic situation on Poland's main export markets and also to improvement of domestic demand growth rates, as seen in the data for the last quarter."
the analysts wrote in a comment to January output data sent to PAP.
