Having Fun with Going Green
July 4, 2014
The Ujazdowski Castle Center for Contemporary Art is organizing outdoor summer concerts, movie screenings, cooking workshops and a host of other activities as part of an annual project called Green Jazdów.
The collective slogan of this year’s project, running from June 27 to Sept. 14, on the vast green area in front of the Ujazdowski Castle, is “Green Jazdów. Green Market,” referring to the relationship between the environment and the economy.
As in previous years, several pavilions will be put up, the work of famous designers who combine a modern approach with concern for the environment. This year’s designer is Polish architect, artist and academic Aleksandra Wasilkowska.
Those who attend Green Jazdów workshops will learn how to fix a bike and build a bench, bookshelf or a table, while kids will be able to take pottery classes, make environmentally friendly toys and learn about green architecture.
There will also be market stalls offering a choice of fresh produce sold by organic farm owners.
On Sundays, Green Jazdów will be inviting visitors to outdoor yoga and pilates classes, while on Friday and Saturday nights there will be concerts and movie screenings. This year’s live music acts come from two different music genres: punk rock and folk-inspired bands. Audiences will hear concerts by Piękna Sprawa, Tęgie Chłopy, Bajzel, Sutari and the Kopyt/Kowalski duo.
