Jazz in the Old Town

Now in its 20th year, the Jazz in the Old Town international open-air festival is widely regarded as an inseparable part of the summer season in Warsaw and one of the city’s biggest tourist attractions. Festival concerts will be held every Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the atmospheric setting of the Old Town Square. Admission is free.

As in previous years, the organizers promise a variety of jazz genres, from mainstream and world jazz to modern jazz, fusion and flamenco jazz. This year’s highlights include concerts by Jacky Terrasson, Joey Calderazzo, the Reis-Demuth-Wiltgen Trio, Urszula Dudziak, Mike Stern, and Bill Evans.

July 4

20th Anniversary Opening Concert featuring the Jacky Terrasson Trio.
One of the best contemporary jazz pianists, Terrasson is a French musician based in New York City.

Polish Radio Concert Studio (closed event, admission with tickets)

July 5

Joey Calderazzo Trio (USA).
Poland’s one-night-only concert by Grammy winner Joey Calderazzo, regarded as one of the world’s finest jazz pianists of today.

July 12

Reis-Demuth-Wiltgen Trio (Luxemburg).
Formed by internationally famous and successful European musicians, the trio consists of pianist, composer and arranger Michel Reis, double-bass player Mark Demuth, and drummer Paul Wiltgen.

July 19

Urszula Dudziak SuperBand.
One of the most recognizable names in Polish jazz, Dudziak ranks among the world’s top jazz vocalists. She has recorded around 50 albums and collaborated with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Ron Carter, Nina Simone, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Sting.

July 26

Mike Stern & Bill Evans Band (USA).
A joint project by world famous jazz-fusion guitarist Mike Stern, who made a name for himself touring and recording with Miles Davis, and Bill Evans, one of the most celebrated contemporary sax players whose collaborations have included such big jazz acts as Miles Davis, John McLaughlin, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
