Corporate conditions leading index increases
February 28, 2014
Poland's WWK composite corporate leading sentiment indicator increased by almost 3 pts m/m in February to 151.7 pts. according to the BIEC agency.
Index growth "in recent months accelerated, which should translate into visibly higher GDP growth in H2," the Bureau for Investments and Economic Cycles, BIEC said.
Improved assessment of the economic situation by the business sector had the strongest contribution to the index's growth, BIEC said, adding "it was the first such visible increase in optimism among management staff since spring last year."
The companies recorded sales increase, which in consequence improved their financial situation, as well as increased inflow of new orders. Inventories of finished products declined m/m.
On the positive side, household's credit debt increased, which usually bodes an increase in consumption, BIEC noted.
