Anatomy of Angst
August 1, 2014
Article's tools:

A new exhibition of paintings at the Monopol gallery makes a link between the human anatomy and existential angst.

The exhibition is entitled, W±tpia, a word that means “entrails” in old Polish. It also close to the contemporary Polish term for “doubt.”

Organic forms that resemble human organs and cells in the paintings symbolically represent states of mind, emotions and the relations between man and the world. The abstract paintings are intriguingly reminiscent of microscopic photography and of illustrations in anatomy books.

The paintings on show are the work of three young women artists: Irmina Sta¶, Martyna ¦cibior and Zuzanna Ziółkowska.

Until Aug. 13
Monopol Gallery; 117 Jerozolimskie Ave.
