The coastal resort of Ko這brzeg is preparing to host its third film festival targeted at fans of thrillers and crime movies. The event, which runs from Aug. 7 to 10 this year, aims to showcase the world’s best and newest films from these genres in the summer setting of a seaside town.

The highlights of this summer include a Polish, Czech and Slovak co-production entitled The Confidant directed by Juraj Nvota; The German Doctor by Lucia Puenzo; Borgman by Alex van Warmerdam; and Big Bad Wolves by Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado. Polish productions shown during the festival will include Agnieszka Holland’s mini-series Burning Bush; Jack Strong directed by W豉dys豉w Pasikowski; and Last Floor by Tadeusz Kr鏊. Thanks to the festival’s team-up with the AXN television channel, festival audiences will see the entire first season of the Crossing Lines serial produced by Sony Pictures Television Networks and starring Donald Sutherland and William Fichtner.

Many of the festival screenings will be accompanied by meetings with filmmakers, panel discussions and other attractions.

One of this year’s special events is a screening of Academy Award-winning short feature films produced by Danish studio M&M Productions. This year’s Movie Buff special screening will feature a Danish drama entitled The Hunt, directed by Thomas Vinterberg with a superb performance by Mads Mikkelsen. The movie was nominated for an Oscar as Best Foreign Language Film.

As usual, the local beach will host the festival’s Night Moviethon, which this year will feature movies that were a hit at this year’s Let’s CEE Film Festival in Vienna and have not yet been released in Poland.

Admission to all screenings and accompanying events is free. For further information go to www.sensacyjnelato.pl
