March 3, 2014
Warszawska Orkiestra Rozrywkowa im. Igora Krenza WOR (Igor Krenz Warsaw Concert Band), a unique music ensemble will appear March 5 on the stage of TR Warszawa theater with a project entitled “Jerzy Woźniak vs. Les Baxter”
This time the artists will play works of Jerzy Wożniak, a forgotten Polish timpanist of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, who was also a composer of the so-called “ballroom music” as well as pieces by an Americam composer and music arranager Les Baxter.
WOR is a group of alternating musicians related to Warsaw-based LADO ABC label. Their first concert took place at the Malta Festival 2011 in the western city of Poznan.
Since then WOR have played just a few concerts, each time presenting a new project, with a new line-up of musicians. Now, in collaboration with TR Warszawa, Lado ABC has prepared three unique concerts by WOR to be hosted at the theatre.
The band includes: Miłosz Pękala (Kwadrofonik), Hubert Zemler, Jerzy Rogiewicz (Levity), Bartosz Weber (Baaba), Bartłomiej Tyciński (Mitch & Mitch), Piotr Zabrodzki (LXMP), Tomasz Duda (Mitch & Mitch), Tomasz Woźniak, Olo Walicki (Łoskot), Macio Moretti (Shofar).
Jerzy Woźniak vs. Les Baxter” is the second concert in the series. The first of them was held January 6 and featured pieces from an album entitled “Song Reader”, the latest work by Beck, a set of songs published as notes only, without any original rendering.
