EIB to grant EUR 5.5bn for projects in Poland in 2014
March 7, 2014
The European Investment Bank will provide some EUR 5.5 billion for financing investment projects in Poland in 2014, an amount similar to 2013, President of the EIB Werner Hoyer said during a Thursday press conference.
"I expect that the scale of financing projects in Poland in 2014 will be similar to 2013, i.e. it will be around EUR 5.5 billion," Hoyer said.
According to EIB data, the value of financing granted to Polish entities amounted to EUR 5.7 billion in 2013 versus EUR 4.4 billion in 2012.
EIB vice president Laszlo Baranyay expects that the EIB financing might be even higher, at least matching the EUR 5.7 billion granted last year.
EIB financing will focus on transport infrastructure, followed by power sector financing, EIB official Anita Fuerstenberg-Lucius said during the conference. Support for SMEs will amount to EUR 1 billion, she added.
