A new festival aims to highlight the cultural life of Warsaw’s south-central Mokotów district, with a focus on music, theater, film, art and literature.

The festival takes place Sept. 21 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Służew Culture Center and in the nearby park.

There will be two gala concerts: classical music performed by the Sinfonia Viva orchestra and a performance of Frank Sinatra’s music by Jarosław Wist and the Krzysztof Herdzin Big Band. Thanks to a team-up with the Warsaw Music Society, visitors will also be able to hear a performance of music by famous composer Andrzej Panufnik.

The Służew Culture Center will host an exhibition of paintings by Zdzisław Beksiński. Those who love theater will be able to catch a performance of Nocleg w Apeninach (A Night in the Apennines) by Teatr Druga Strefa and a performance for kids staged by Teatr Baza. There will also be an exhibition of posters and stage props from Mokotów theaters.

While the festival aims to explore the diversity of cultural life in the Mokotów district, it is also open to visitors from across Warsaw.

Accompanying events include: a book, record and comic books fair (local booksellers and publishers have been invited); an organic food market; classes at Mała Akademia Muzyki (the Small Music Academy); and even a balloon flight over Mokotów.
