A new exhibition at the Museum of Caricature and Cartoon Art in Warsaw looks at war and peace through old and new satirical cartoons.

Entitled The Great War and Peace, the exhibition marks 100 years since the start of World War I. Cartoons and other items on show are divided into two sections, the first of which, entitled “The Great War,” comprises drawings from the World War I era. These items include 200 caricatures, a Russian propaganda poster entitled The Enemy of Mankind, a German postcard from World War I, and a caricature from the January 1917 issue of the London-based satirical magazine Punch.

The other section, “The Peace Dove,” features humorous and satirical takes on the international symbol of peace, drawn and submitted especially for the exhibition by a group of visual artists selected by the museum.
