Passion for Theater
September 29, 2014
Article's tools:

TR Warszawa, one of Warsaw’s leading theater companies, has launched a workshop project called Teren TR to help young, talented people develop their skills and passion for the art of theater.

Teren TR, which means “Area TR” in English, is designed for students of drama schools as well as professionals, including directors, playwrights, set designers and artists of other kinds interested in theater. Through the new project, TR Warszawa is revisiting the idea of becoming a sort of a safe haven for artists to experiment and take creative risks. Over the past several years, TR Warszawa has earned a reputation as a modern theater that welcomes new ideas while cultivating the traditions of Polish dramatic art. Its new project echoes the Teren Warszawa (Area Warsaw) project from 2004, which helped launch the careers of a number of talented dramatists, theater directors and actors, while at the same time providing an opportunity to stage a string of performances at venues other than regular theaters.

Unlike Teren Warszawa, the new project will be carried out on the theater’s premises, including the TR Warszawa stage and its workshop room. All project participants will attend master classes conducted by theater professionals and will also get free access to all events held at TR Warszawa during the 2014/2015 season, including rehearsals for new productions.

Teren TR will end in June next year with an overview of the participants’ projects. The best plays and performances may become regular productions at TR Warszawa in coming seasons.

Applications need to be submitted by e-mail to terentr@trwarszawa.pl by Oct. 15 and include a CV, a cover letter and a description of an original and previously unpublished concept for a performance, installation or play.
