Poland likely recorded some PLN 11 billion budget deficit at end-February, i.e. 24% of the annual plan at PLN 47.5 billion, according to preliminary estimates of the Finance Ministry presented by deputy Finance Minister Hanna Majszczyk.

"Our preliminary estimates show that the deficit after February amounted to around PLN 11 bln, that is 24% of the annual plan," Majszczyk said. "Budget revenues are doing well, there are no risks on the revenue side."

This is the lowest level of end-February budget deficit as percentage of FY plan since 2008, the daily Rzeczpospolita wrote citing BZ WBK economist Piotr Bielski.
