Two television personalities, a photographer and an academic were among those who received awards from a Polish producer of herbal food, cosmetics and therapeutic products in mid-October for being “inspired by nature” in their work.

Herbapol Lublin presented its annual Herbapol Esencja Natury (Natural Essence) awards for the sixth time in a ceremony at the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw Oct. 15.

Herbapol Lublin, which is based in the eastern city of Lublin, founded its awards five years ago to honor outstanding researchers, athletes, artists and media personalities who “treat nature as an inseparable part of their lives and inspiration for their work.” The first Herbapol Esencja Natury awards ceremony was held in 2009 and the awards have since been given out in several categories.

This year’s award in the “Inspired by Nature in Life” category went to television presenter Paulina Sykut-Jeżyna for her involvement in environmental and animal rights campaigns. Mariola Bojarska-Ferenc, who promotes physical fitness on Polish television, received an award for “Promoting Nature in the Media” in recognition of over 2,000 programs she has made for television and 200 press articles she has written to promote healthy living.

The “Inspired by Nature in Art” award went to photographer Tomasz Sikora for his photographs that “capture the beauty enchanted in nature” and for a multimedia project entitled Heard in Silence. In the project, Sikora examines the phenomenon of silence in today’s busy and noisy world.

An award for “Nature Used in a Research Paper” went to Prof. Małgorzata Kozłowska-Wojciechowska, head of the Pharmaceutical Care Department at the Warsaw University of Medicine. Kozłowska-Wojciechowska received a Herbapol Esencja Natury statuette for her work to promote healthy eating habits and to provide health education to all social groups. She was also honored for establishing the Council for the Promotion of Healthy Diets.

Herbapol Lublin, which has turned 65 this year, marked the anniversary with a special award, “Natural Essence for Generations,” which was presented to musicians Łukasz and Paweł Golec and their families.
