President appoints Sawicki as new agriculture minister
March 18, 2014
Marek Sawicki of junior coalition partner Polish People’s party (PSL) was appointed Agriculture Minister by President Bronislaw Komorowski on Monday.
Marek Sawicki replaces Stanislaw Kalemba, who stepped down on March 13 in relation to the situation on the Polish pork market resulting from the discovery of African swine fever cases near the Belarusian border.
Marek Sawicki had already been Agriculture Minister in the years 2007-2012 but resigned from the post in connection with alleged irregularities in the companies tied to the ministry.
