Famous Argentinian-Spanish opera singer Jose Cura is coming to the southern town of Zabrze Nov. 22 to give his first concert in Poland in years.

One of the world’s best contemporary tenors, and also one of the most popular, Cura will give a one-night-only concert at Zabrze’s Music and Dance Center. During the event, entitled Jose Cura with Guests, he will both sing and conduct the orchestra.

The program features well-known operatic arias and many other classics. Cura’s guests will be Polish tenor Bogusław Morka and soprano Agnieszka Kozłowska, a soloist with the Warsaw Chamber Opera. The performers will be accompanied by the Cracow Event Orchestra. Cura will conduct the orchestra taking turns with Tomasz Chmiel.

Often compared to the Three Tenors—Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti—Cura shot to international fame shortly after debuting in 1991. He has been to Poland several times, both as a singer and conductor. In 2001-2004, he was the first guest conductor of the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra in Warsaw.
