Mozart in Period Costumes

The famous Vienna Mozart Orchestra is coming to Poland with a string of concerts this December.

The orchestra leaves its hometown of Vienna only once a year to embark on a short tour promoting classical Viennese music around the world. So far, the Austrian musicians have performed in Japan, Singapore, Morocco, Panama, Mexico, Kuwait, the United States and many countries in Europe. After a successful concert in Warsaw last year, the orchestra is returning to play in four cities across Poland. This time, Polish audiences will hear a wide selection of pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, including his symphonies, instrumental concertos, and arias and duets from his most famous operas.

The Vienna Mozart Orchestra was formed in 1986 by the best musicians from Vienna’s symphony and chamber orchestras. These 30 talented and experienced instrumentalists, opera singers and soloists specialize in performing Mozart’s masterpieces and their trademark are the period costumes and wigs they wear during concerts. Audiences are whisked back to the Vienna of the 18th century, when the city was the cultural center of the Habsburg empire.

Concerts by the Vienna Mozart Orchestra are a major tourist draw in Austria. The orchestra plays four concerts a week to packed houses at such famous Viennese venues as the Wiener Musikverein concert hall, the Vienna State Opera and the Wiener Konzerthaus.
