La Maison, a French restaurant on Ch這dna Street in Warsaw, has started serving sweet pastries made by Michel Willaume, who revels in the title of World Pastry Champion. La Maison is located in a building that used to house an ice-cream parlor whose immensely popular Calipso ice-cream drew generations of Varsovians. In a nod to this history, La Maison continues to make and sell genuine Italian ice cream.

La Maison is the only venue in Warsaw to combine a traditional cake shop with a restaurant offering the flavors and scents of the cafes and restaurants that line boulevards in France.

Until not so long ago, visitors to Warsaw and locals alike had a hard time finding a restaurant that served a French-style breakfast. Things changed with the advent of La Maison, whose extensive breakfast menu includes croissants and bread baked on the premises, a tarte with goat’s cheese and natural yogurt with crunchy muesli.

In addition to French cuisine, La Maison serves a selection of mediterranean specialties. La Maison owner Sandra Massoud, who is French but of Polish descent, draws up a new lunch menu every day, offering a creative selection of light, tasty dishes.

If you take a seat by the kitchen counter, you can get a good view of La Maison’s open kitchen and watch the chefs prepare your meal. Alternatively, you can gaze into the kitchen from the bar, where you can pick a glass of wine from the restaurant’s impressive wine menu.
