Short films from all over world compete for Poznan Open award

A selection of short films recently made in Poland and abroad is shown at the Short Waves Festival which opened in the western Polish city of Pozna˝ March 30 and will last until April 6.
Festival audiences will see a wide variety of work, including short feature films, documentaries, animated shorts, music videos, and experimental films. A total of 28 entries chosen from among almost 280 submissions will compete for the Pozna˝ Open award.
The Short Waves Festival organizers like to think outside the box and are offering audiences a chance to see work by talented filmmakers such as Christian Mungiu, Terry Gilliam and Aki Kaurismaki; short feature films which were nominated for this year’s Academy Award; pieces by talented young filmmakers from Europe; and a collection short films on architecture.
This year’s festival will also include the first Dances With Camera competition for short films about dance.
