March 31, 2014
Article's tools:

A selection of short films recently made in Poland and abroad is shown at the Short Waves Festival which opened in the western Polish city of Poznań March 30 and will last until April 6.

Festival audiences will see a wide variety of work, including short feature films, documentaries, animated shorts, music videos, and experimental films. A total of 28 entries chosen from among almost 280 submissions will compete for the Poznań Open award.

The Short Waves Festival organizers like to think outside the box and are offering audiences a chance to see work by talented filmmakers such as Christian Mungiu, Terry Gilliam and Aki Kaurismaki; short feature films which were nominated for this year’s Academy Award; pieces by talented young filmmakers from Europe; and a collection short films on architecture.

This year’s festival will also include the first Dances With Camera competition for short films about dance.
