Poland's public debt falls by 1.2pct q/q - Finance Ministry

Poland's public debt measured PLN 880.2 billion at the end of Q4 2013, down by 1.2% from end-Q3 and having risen by 4.7% from end-2012, the Finance Ministry said on Monday.
The public debt included PLN 813.5 billion in central government sector debt, PLN 66.3 billion in local government sector debt and PLN 380.1 million in debt of the social security system, the Finance Ministry said.
Of the total sum, domestic debt amounted to PLN 612.8 billion, up by 6.3% from PLN 576.4 billion at end-2012, while foreign debt measured PLN 267.4 billion as it edged up 1.3% from PLN 264.1 billion at end-2012. The share of foreign debt in public debt decreased to 30.4% from 31.4% at end-2012.
General government debt, i.e. one of the Maastricht criteria, amounted to PLN 934 billion or 57.2% of GDP at end-2013, down by 0.7% q/q and up by 5.3% y/y.
