Power-and-heat cogeneration support system extended to end-2018
April 8, 2014
Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski signed into law a bill extending the system of support for high-efficiency cogeneration of power and heat for installations fired by coal and natural gas to the end of 2018.
The system of support forces energy traders to buy certificates of origin for a part of the volume of energy that has been produced in cogeneration. If a given trader hasn't got a sufficient number of certificates, they have to pay a substitution fee.
The system of support for cogeneration installations of below 1 MW capacity, fired by coal and natural gas, expired at end-2013.
Extension of support for installations fired by methane and biogas to end-2018 had already been secured.
