Poland's household arrears likely to stabilize in 2014
April 9, 2014
Polish households will likely see their payment arrears stabilize or at most slightly edge up in 2014 thanks to improved economic situation, BIG InfoMonitor research institute CEO Mariusz Hildebrand told PAP Polish news agency.
The expected changes are attributed to advancing recovery, as "firms think about hiking wages and increasing employment."
On the other hand, better consumer sentiment may incline more persons to draw debt and might translate into problems with paying back further down the road, Hildebrand said.
Poles have built up arrears of PLN 40.46 billion at the end of Q1 2014, up by 1.6% quarter on quarter, BIG InfoMonitor researcher said earlier on Tuesday. In annual terms, arrears increased by 13.2% y/y.
