Polish banks took 7.82 million credit reports from the Polish credit bureau BIK in the first quarter of 2014, up 20.9% year on year, the bureau said in a report.

The March tally of 2.85 million was up from 2.31 mln in the year prior period.

The Q1 sum includes 3.33 mln monitoring reports, up 40.5% y/y and 4.48 mln on-line reports, up 9.6% y/y.

The report release data "point to a recovery on the consumer lending market in the first three months of the year," BIK said.

"The data show clearly that banks and credit unions in January and February 2014 issued the greatest amount of consumer loans since 2010," BIK chief economist Andrzej Topinski was quoted saying.
