Mobile banking and other services using mobile devices are growing in popularity. Alongside advances in technology, security concerns have increased too.

At the end of last year, a total of 3.5 million Poles used mobile devices to log into their bank accounts, according to surveys conducted by the PRNnews.pl and Bankier.pl websites. As the amount of data in our smartphones grows, users need to protect the data in one way or another. If you lose your mobile device, the data it contains, including passwords, could be misused by a third party. For example, money could be stolen from your bank account.

As the awareness of the risks increases, so does users’ interest in different ways of protecting their mobile devices. There is plenty of “native,” preinstalled and downloadable software on the market to encrypt data and people are increasingly keen to use this.

If you lose your mobile device, it is possible to erase data remotely, but you should always make a backup copy first. Other security methods include applications that enable users to remotely lock their missing devices and track them down using a geolocation system.

One application that allows users to do this is mySafety Mobile, which uses 4G, 3G, GPRS and WiFi networks to locate misplaced and stolen devices as long as data transmission is enabled in them. mySafety Mobile users are able to remotely lock their tablet computers and smartphones, complete with the SIM cards in the devices. mySafety Mobile functionalities have been recently expanded to add a unique tagging system and a round-the-clock Alert Center, whose consultants help users lock, find and retrieve their devices. You only need to make one call and a mySafety Mobile consultant is there to offer you comprehensive support. mySafety Mobile is available for smartphones, tablets, laptops and other devices in which apps can be installed, while the special tag feature can also be used to protect other types of electronic equipment, such as cameras, preventing you from losing them.
