Poznaj Dobrą Żywność (Try Fine Food) is a program promoting food quality. The aim is to build a positive image of quality farm produce and food among Polish and international consumers. The Try Fine Food logo is placed on packaging to make it easier for consumers to choose from among many similar products on store shelves. Consumers are informed that a particular product was made from quality ingredients, has few additives, and is properly labeled. The Try Fine Food logo on a product is also an opportunity to promote products and companies in Poland and internationally by strengthening companies’ prestige and the reputation of their products.

The Try Fine Food program procedure

The Try Fine Food logo is only granted to products that meet the program’s criteria and receive a positive recommendation from the Try Fine Food Program’s Scientific Committee for Food Product Quality appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The committee is made up of specialists in food processing, nutrition, medicine, plant and animal breeding as well as law and economics.

The Try Fine Food emblem is awarded in the following product categories:
1. meat and meat products
2. milk and dairy products
3. fish, seafood and processed products
4. eggs and egg products
5. honey
6. edible fats
7. cereal, legume and bulb/root plant products
8. fruit, vegetables, mushrooms and processed products
9. confectionery, cakes and bread
10. herbs, herbal and fruit teas, seasonings and spices
11. foodstuffs intended for particular nutritional uses
12. mixed and processed products based on those listed above
13. water and soft drinks
14. alcoholic beverages
15. others.

To maintain a consistently high standard of quality for the produce and foodstuffs carrying the logo, the agriculture and rural development minister grants the Try Fine Food emblem for a period of three years.

At present the emblem is found on 498 farm and food products from 95 companies in the agriculture and food sector.

The Try Fine Food program also includes informational and promotional activities designed to make its logo better known among consumers, producers and processing businesses as well as food wholesalers, retailers and distributors. The program aims to provide accurate information on agricultural and food products and spread the word about the benefits of taking part in the Try Fine Food program.

Promotional activities also include informing consumers about how ingredients are obtained, about production technologies and quality and food safety systems as well as about the rules of proper product labeling.

As part of the promotional drive accompanying the Try Fine Food program, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development takes an active part in numerous trade fairs and exhibitions at home and abroad. The drive includes advertisements in newspapers, TV and radio commercials and numerous outdoor events. The aim is to improve recognition of the Try Fine Food logo and promote products that carry the emblem.

Application forms to submit a farm/food product for the Try Fine Food program are available on the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s website under the Poznaj Dobrą Żywność tab; detailed information is available from:
