Placido Domingo
Spanish tenor Placido Domingo gave a concert in the western Polish city of Poznan on April 27, to celebrate the canonization of Polish-born Pope John Paul II.

During the concert the singer performed songs from the ‘Amore Infinito’ album, in which writings by Karol Wojtyła, the future Pope, were set to music.

‘Amore Infinito’ was released in 2008. Domingo had himself asked John Paul II for permission to use his writings.

The concert, which took place on the grounds of the Poznań International Fair, was not only a special tribute to the Polish pontiff, but also marked the beginning of the celebrations of the 1050th anniversary of Christianity in Poland, falling in 2016.
