The Polish branch of the international SOS Children’s Villages organization has launched a new nationwide fundraising campaign under the motto “The more you eat the more you help.”

Celebrating International Children’s Day June 1, the campaign, the fourth such fundraising drive to date, aims to offer abandoned and orphaned children a gift in the form of a vacation. Anyone can support the campaign by visiting www.wioskisos.org/im-wiecej and finding a participating restaurant in their neighborhood. Those having a big meal at such a restaurant June 1 will see 10 percent of their bill go to SOS Children’s Villages to raise funds for summer trips for underprivileged children. More than 250 restaurants across Poland are taking part in the campaign.

According to Tomasz Jakubiak, owner of Gar Jakubiaka in Warsaw, one of the restaurants taking part in the campaign, raising funds for summer trips will enable “children with a difficult history to forget their hardships and gain new, happy memories.”

Jakubiak said, “I am proud to be able to support the SOS Children’s Villages initiative. I encourage everybody to eat their fill for this noble cause.”

SOS Children’s Villages is a charity organization that seeks to help broken families stay together and looks after abandoned and orphaned children. Founded 65 years ago, it works in 133 countries on four continents, helping more than 1.5 million children. The organization’s Polish branch has been active for 30 years, looking after 1,450 children.
