Inspired by the Far East

Western artists have for years been inspired by the Far East. This is a fascination that extends beyond imitation, beyond the use of the color schemes and iconography found in Asian art. It is, it can be argued, an attempt to gain a deeper understanding of Eastern cultures and their philosophical underpinnings.

An exhibition entitled Shade of Ink at the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw brings together contemporary ceramics, photographs, paintings, drawings and sculptures inspired by the Far East.

The formal opening takes place on Sept. 21 and the exhibition will be open to the public from Sept. 22 to Nov. 18. Visitors will be able to meet with the artists and curators and attend lectures.
