The second Films for Kids Festival will be held Sept. 26-Oct. 4 in 17 locations across Poland.

Held under the motto “Immerse Yourself in Film,” the festival will feature 70 movies, including feature-length productions, shorts and animated films. Many of these have won awards at international festivals and have proved a hit with children around the world. A number of the movies will be shown in Poland for the first time.

This year’s festival hits include the Academy-Award nominated shorts Me and My Moulton from Norway and Boogaloo and Graham from Britain, as well as a Brazilian animated movie entitled The Boy and the World, which proved a success at the prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France. Swedish children’s book author Gunilla Bergstrom will be at the festival as a special guest. She will join Polish children as they watch movies featuring Albert Albertson, the main character of her popular books.

Other festival highlights will include a screening of Casper and Emma’s Winter Vacation, the sequel to a hugely popular Norwegian movie about two young friends. The first part, Casper and Emma, took home the most important awards at last year’s Films for Kids Festival and during this year’s festival a Polish DVD version will be released.

Other than movies, the festival will comprise events combining cinema, music and visual arts with fun. Children will be treated to movie screenings with live music, while their parents and other adults will be able to vote to select their favorite cartoons that ran on Polish television during their childhood. The festival will close with a fancy dress party.
