Italian carmaker Fiat wants to launch production of a new passenger car from the B segment (which includes Fiat Punto) in its Tychy production plant, an investment worth PLN 2.36 billion, the daily Puls Biznesu reports.

The new model would be exported (96% of production), including to North America.

The new investment is scheduled for completion for 2017, and would entail employing 420 persons directly and creating another 1,500 jobs for subcontractors, the daily wrote.

In exchange for the investment the carmaker expects to receive state aid as well as tax breaks within the Katowice special economic zone and has already filed appropriate motions to the Polish government, the daily wrote.
