Nowy Theater, run by a world-renowned theater director Krzysztof Warlikowski, will get more than PLN 19 million for modernization of its present premises according to the contract signed May 7 by Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski and Nowy Theatre’s management.
The construction work, scheduled to take one year, is to start in June 2014. The adaptation of a historic workshop hall and renovation of administrative buildings of the old municipal waste company in Warsaw’s Old Mokotůw district will be financed from the funds provided bythe European Economic Area Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.
“It really is almost a miracle in the field culture, because new theaters are not being built any more Warlikowski said about the grant.
“I am happy we have managed to finalize this contract”, Zdrojewski said. “It is a homage to the work of the artistic director as well as other artists involved in the project”, he added.
