Poland's steel consumption seen rising

Poland's steel consumption may grow to 10.5 million tons in 2014 and to 11 million tons in 2015 compared to the 10.3 million tons level recorded in 2013, president of the HIPH steel trade and industry chamber Stefan Dzienniak said during the European Economic Forum in the southern city of Katowice.
Demand for steel products will grow along with infrastructure investments, the official said.
"In subsequent years consumption will grow by 2-3% annually and may reach 13.5-13.8 million tons in 2025," Dzienniak said.
2013 steel consumption in Poland amounted to 10.3 million tons, down 1% year on year. The country exported 4.9 million tons of steel products last year, down 12% y/y. Imports dropped 2% to 7.9 million tons.
