The Sejm lower house on Friday amended the law on protection of foreigners in Poland, bringing Polish regulations in line with an EU directive containing standards regarding stateless persons, among other regulations.

The amended Polish regulations set down the conditions for obtaining refugee status, oblige the Office for Foreigners to seek the relatives of foreign minors who are officially recognized as refugees or have been granted supplementary protection and define the rules for granting right of residence to the families of protected foreigners.

The new law also grants protected foreigners the right to public healthcare and define the procedures for recognizing degrees and professional qualifications.
