Group therapy on stage
May 16, 2014
Article's tools:

Ecce Homo!!!, a play based on Irvin D. Yalom’s book The Schopenhauer Cure, introduces audiences at Warsaw’s Collegium Nobilium Theater to the world of group psychotherapy.

Yalom, who is both a writer and an expert on group psychotherapy, explores the complex microcosm of interpersonal relations. The main character in his book is therapist David Hertzfeld. While his six patients seem to be worlds apart in terms of education, life history and problems, during group sessions their lives begin to intertwine. Then, as their course of therapy enters its final year, Hertzfeld’s own life takes a dramatic turn.

Ecce Homo!!! is being staged as a graduation play by students of the Zelwerowicz Theater Academy in Warsaw. It has been adapted for the stage by Krzysztof Majchrzak, who also directs the play and who has arranged the music.
