New law to give Poland's labor inspection more authority
May 19, 2014
Poland's labor inspection PIP is likely to receive greater powers to punish dishonest employers as the Labor Ministry does not rule out preparing an amendment to the law regulating PIP's functioning, the daily Gazeta Wyborcza reports.
PIP wants to fight the practice of employers laying off full-time employees in order to hire staff for a fixed period of time and at lower remuneration.
Thus a number of employees work in the same firm for many years on short-term contracts. At least 500,000 Poles work based on such rules.
