Goran Bregovic
Popular Balkan musician and film score composer Goran Bregović is coming to Warsaw to give a one-night-only concert at the Kongresowa Hall May 22.

Bregović and The Wedding and Funeral Band he formed will be promoting their latest album, entitled Champagne for Gypsies (2012), which blends traditional Balkan and Gypsy music with modern rock. Audiences are also sure to hear “Kalashnikov,” “Ederlezi” and other compositions Bregović wrote for movies by Emir Kusturica including Underground, and for other famous films such as Arizona Dream and Queen Margot. As a treat for Polish fans, the musicians will also play tracks from the hugely popular albums Bregović has recorded in Poland with Polish pop stars Kayah, Krzysztof Krawczyk and Smolik.

Showcasing Bregović’s talent as a versatile composer, Champagne for Gypsies is packed with inventively arranged pieces that blend the rich musical tradition of the Balkan region with a contemporary sound and the strains of a Gypsy band. Apart from The Wedding and Funeral Band, the album also features the groups Gogol Bordello and the Gipsy Kings.
