The Polish industry, while it remains one of the leaders within EU in terms of competitiveness, is losing edge against global players, Boston Consulting Group said.

The shale gas revolution in the US increased competitiveness of the US economy and, as prices of electricity or gas increased substantially in Poland, the US industry is now as competitive as the Polish one, BCG said.

The Polish industry may take another hit from the EU climate policy, which will drive up costs of production, particularly so in energy-intensive sectors.
