The Krzysztof Penderecki European Center for Music in Lusławice
The Krzysztof Penderecki European Center for Music in Lusławice in Malopolskie province, southern Poland, and the Warsaw Museum of the History of Polish Jews have been presented with the Award of the Association of Polish Architects in recognition of an exceptional architectural value of a building.

This year, exceptionally, two editions of the contest were combined, and the Center in Lusławice, finished in 2012 received an overdue trophy. The building designed by the DDJM Studio, is home to a 650-seat concert hall, a library, music studios, teaching laboratories, a ballet hall and a conference hall.

“A European space created at the intersection of nature and culture, rooted in local tradition, and adapted into the picturesque Malopolskie’s scenery. The timeless model and natural materials make the building upstanding and sincere”, the verdict read.

The Warsaw Museum of the History of Polish Jews, awarded for the year 2013, and designed by a Finnish architect Rainer Mahlamaki, was appreciated for “an exceptional creation of public space”. “The museum does not only serve as a museum space but is also a monument and a symbol”, the jury added.

Poland’s President Bronisław Komorowski, the honorary patron of the prize, has said that the award’s 30 years anniversary is a good time for a summary. „This is an important award and it signals that we are making Poland not only a wealthier and more logical country but more beautiful as well”, he added.
