KGHM eyes production launch at Afton-Ajax mine by end-2018
May 30, 2014
Copper group KGHM expects to launch the production at its planned Canadian copper mine Afton-Ajax by end-2018, the company said in a press statement.
The application for environmental permit should be filed by end-Q1 2015 and the construction should begin in mid-2016, the statement reads.
The changes introduced to the mine infrastructural layout will allow "for optimization of investment outlays and will facilitate the process of obtaining environmental permits," according to the statement. Also, the changes should lower the cost of collecting the output after the production launch.
