Poland’s top insurer PZU will continue to look for acquisition opportunities in the CEE region, but will now likely focus on smaller companies which need further organic development, PZU management board member Przemyslaw Dabrowski told PAP Polish news agency.

"We are looking for various acquisition opportunities in CEE," Dabrowski said. "Having experience in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, we begin to mull acquisitions of smaller companies, not market leaders, and focus on organic growth in order to mark our presence in a given country."

In April PZU signed a deal to buy the Baltic and Polish operations of Britain's RSA Insurance for a total of ca. EUR 360 million. The deal includes Lietuvos Draudimas AB, AAS Balta i Codan Forsikring A/S in the Baltic States and Link 4 in Poland. The transaction is to be finalized in H2 2014.
