Finland’s UPM Raflatac, a leading global manufacturer of self-adhesive pressure-sensitive label materials, is stepping up production in Poland in response to growing demand for its products across Europe.

Aiming to strengthen its position on the European market for pressure-sensitive label materials, UPM Raflatac is increasing the capacity of its Polish production facility in Biskupice Podgórne near the southwestern city of Wrocław. The project involves a new laminating line and an enlargement of the plant’s conveyor system. UPM Raflatac is also buying new machines to better meet growing demand for pressure-sensitive materials in Europe. The new production line is scheduled to go on stream in the first half of 2018.

Antti Jääskeläinen, executive vice-president of UPM Raflatac, describes the expansion project as a major move that will enable the company to meet the ever growing expectations of its European customers. UPM Raflatac will also be able to make better use of its core competencies and its diverse range of products, he says.

According to Krzysztof Minta, general manager of the Biskupice Podgórne plant, the project is good news for all UPM Raflatac employees in Poland. Increased production is a development opportunity for the Biskupice Podgórne facility, he says. “Our organization’s performance and its potential have once again been acknowledged; this is a success we have all made happen,” Minta adds.

UPM Raflatac’s pressure-sensitive label materials plant in Biskupice Podgórne was launched in 2008, and in 2012 the company opened a production facility in the nearby village of Nowa Wieś Wrocławska. The two plants have almost 600 employees between them and form an important production cluster for UPM Raflatac.

UPM Raflatac has around 2,900 employees throughout Europe with sales totaling 1.4 billion euros in 2015. It is part of UPM – The Biofore Company, one of the world’s most sustainable businesses.
