Wrocław - European Best Destination 2018

Wrocław won the European Best Destination 2018 contest. Thanks to the involvement of Wrocław residents, local communities and guests from Poland and around the world, Wrocław has the title of the best European tourist destination.

After Wrocław, among others, were Spanish Bilbao, French Colmar, Croatian Hvar, Latvian Riga, Milan, Amsterdam, Athens and Paris. The only representative of Poland in this year's edition of the competition received votes from 146 countries.

“I am extremely proud. I want to thank all inhabitants of Wrocław and tourists for every vote. The victory in such a prestigious competition proves that Wrocław is already among the most attractive tourist destinations on the map of Europe”, said Rafał Dutkiewicz, Mayor of Wrocław.

European Best Destination is an international organization based in Brussels, which promotes culture and tourism in Europe. Thanks to its website, social media, extensive cooperation with many tourists, offices and the interest in the competition from the world's largest media alone, the nomination itself is a great honor.

The prize is awarded annually. 20 cities take part in the competition.
“Wrocław faced such popular tourist destinations as Paris, Milan and Athens, among others. The jury of the competition recognized Wrocław as a city with great potential, which in recent years has strongly focused on its development. The organization of large enterprises, such as the European Capital of Culture 2016 or World Games 2017, has proved that Wrocław is ready for more. Annually, the capital of Lower Silesia is visited by 4-5 million tourists. Receiving the title of the European Best Destination 2018 will certainly affect even greater interest in Wrocław”, said Wioletta Samborska, Director of the City and Tourism Promotion Office.

Lufthansa’s new look

Thirty years after the last makeover, the airline is revamping its corporate design. The most visible change is the new aircraft livery. The crane, designed exactly 100 years ago by graphic artist Otto Firle, a distinctive icon in the sky, remains Lufthansa's iconic symbol. The familiar blue-yellow color combination will also be retained - but the use of these primary colors will be redefined. The blue specially developed for Lufthansa is somewhat darker, more elegant and is becoming the leading brand color. In the cabin, guests will encounter the modernized design within the crew's uniform in the form of new - and often yellow - accessories.

“Lufthansa has changed and is more modern and successful than ever. From now on, this will also be visible to the public through a new design”, says Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG.
