Number of internet banking clients up 12pct y/y in Q1

Polish banks had 12.76 million active retail clients of internet banking services at the end of Q1 2014, up by 12% year on year and up by 2.8% quarter on quarter, banking lobby ZBP said in a statement.

The number of retail clients with access to internet banking services increased by 9.3% y/y to 22.43 million, the report showed. In quarterly terms, the number was up 2.6%.

Among SMEs, some 1.97 million clients had access to internet banking services at end-Q1, which translates to a 8% y/y increase and a 3.6% q/q increase.

Polish banks increased the number of issued payment cards by 0.25% q/q and 3.2% y/y to 34.74 million, the report also showed.
