Pawel Tamborski appointed new CEO of Warsaw bourse
June 27, 2014
WSE operator GPW's shareholders appointed former deputy Treasury Minister Pawel Tamborski as the new CEO and suspended the Thursday AGM until July 15.
Of registered voting rights, shareholders representing 32.2 million votes were in favor of the candidacy, 3.3 million votes were against, while 0.64 million votes abstained.
Pawel Tamborski will replace Adam Maciejewski, who was running GPW from the beginning of 2013 until the AGM day.
Following the appointment the AGM was suspended until July 15 upon a Treasury Ministry motion as the decision awaits approval of financial market regulator KNF.
The KNF decision-making process may take some time as Tamborski had worked abroad and the regulator will need to ask information from foreign supervisory authorities, its spokesperson Lukasz Dajnowicz told PAP Polish news agency.
Until the AGM is resumed, the incumbent CEO and management board will remain in office, AGM chairperson Marek Wierzbowski told reporters.
