Oedipus the King to premiere at Dramatyczny Theater

A new interpretation of “Oedipus the King”, a drama written by one of the greatest ancient Greek tragedians Sophocles, will premiere July 4 at the Dramatyczny Theater in Warsaw.
The play is directed by Jakub Krofta and has been translated into Polish language by a renowned writer Antoni Libera.
Oedipus the King is considered the most perfect crime story of all times, one of the oldest masterpieces of dramatic literature, and example of Greek tragedy par excellence.
This is a story of Oedipus, a man who becomes the king of Thebes while in the process unwittingly fulfilling a prophecy that he would murder his father Lauis and marry his mother Jocasta.
The cast includes Sławomir Grzymkowski (Oedipus), Halina Skoczyńska (Jocasta), Adam Ferency, Olgierd Łukaszewicz, Waldemar Barwiński, Janusz R. Nowicki, Władysław Kowalski
